The Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX), on September 24, 2026, notified the commencement of trading in the Copper Options January 21, 2027 contract, with Copper (2,500 Kilograms) Futures (Compulsory Delivery) as the underlying contract. The options contract will be available for trading from October 1, 2026, and the contract specifications and trading parameters prescribed in the Annexure shall be binding on Exchange Members and constituents trading through them.
The option contract expiry date is January 21, 2027, while the underlying futures contract is the Copper January 29, 2027 contract. Sensitivity Reports will be provided at the end of day on January 15, 18, 19 and 20, 2027. Option Devolvement Intimation may be provided from January 19 to January 21, 2027, with the first and second days of Option Devolvement Margin applicable from the beginning of day on January 20 and January 21, respectively.
Trading in futures positions resulting from option devolvement will commence on January 22, 2027. Members are required to refer to MCXCCL circulars for applicable margins. The maximum single order size for the contract is prescribed as 70,000 Kgs (28 lots).
